The Catalogue of Ships assigns a large area to the Kingdom of Nestor (Iliad, 2.591-602). We will cover only one locality: Pylos (2.591). It has been associated with the Mycenaean ruins at Ano Englianos. Many Linear B tablets have been discovered among these ruins and deciphered, and often bear the name pu-ro. After this Pylos had been destroyed, some of its inhabitants moved to Cape Koryphasion, the historic Pylos of Thucydides (4.14) and the "sandy Pylos" of the Homeric poems. A Mycenaean tomb dated to 1680-1060 B.C. was excavated on the cape in the 1950s. The excavator gave the name of the tomb to Thrasymedes, son of Nestor. The video shows some photographs of the "Palace of Nestor" and of "sandy Pylos" at Voidokilia Beach at the foot of Cape Koryphasion.
